Anthony Gutierrez is a 3-time CHSAA Wrestling State placer and 2nd Degree Black Belt in Gracie Jiu Jitsu. He started training at age 5 and competed at the highest levels in high school and nationally.

He placed 6th in the state as a sophomore, 3rd as a junior, and entered his senior year ranked #1 in the state of Colorado. After an upset in the state tournament, Anthony battled back to earn 3rd place.

During his high school career he also won the Centaurus High School “Top of the Rockies” Tournament in 2002, finished his senior season with a 40-5 record, and earned multiple national titles in wrestling. In Gracie Jiu Jitsu he went on to compete internationally, placing 2nd at Grapplers Quest West Coast 2005 and 3rd at the Pan-American Championships 2006. He has also won multiple in-state wrestling and Jiu Jitsu tournaments.

But competition was never the end goal. Anthony’s mission is real-world safety.

Today, Anthony teaches Gracie Jiu Jitsu with a focus on practical self-defense for teens, adults, women, and children. His goal is to give people the confidence and skills to protect themselves and their families.

As Grand Master Helio Gracie said: “Always assume that your opponent is going to be bigger, stronger and faster than you, so that you learn to rely on technique, timing, and leverage, rather than brute strength.”

Gracie Jiu Jitsu was designed for exactly that. Most confrontations end up on the ground, and Gracie Jiu Jitsu teaches you how to control the situation through technique, not size or strength.

Based in Longmont, CO at Motive, Anthony brings decades of mat experience into every class to help students build discipline, confidence, and real self-defense skills.
